What is the double-acting cylinder?
Double-Acting Cylinder
A double-acting cylinder has two ports: one for extending and one for retracting the piston. It uses hydraulic or pneumatic pressure to both extend and retract the piston, making it capable of producing force in both directions.
How it works:
Extension: Pressure is applied to one side of the piston (often the rod side) to move the piston outward.
Retract: Pressure is applied to the opposite side (the non-rod side) to retract the piston back into the cylinder.
Advantages:
Provides force in both directions.
Suitable for applications where both the extension and retraction need to be controlled with force.
More versatile in terms of the range of motion and application types (lifting, pushing, pulling, etc.).
